Bible maps usually place Goshen, Rameses, Pithom and Succoth in the eastern Nile Delta. The exact sites, and how they relate, are still debated by scholars.

Questions we ask in the places themselves

Each stop is chosen to open up a passage of Exodus on the ground where it is remembered.

  • How did Moses cross the sea?
  • Where did the crossing happen?
  • Where was the real Midian?
  • Which Pharaoh raised Moses?
  • Which Pharaoh pursued Israel?
  • Where is Rephidim?
  • Where are Horeb, the golden calf, Moses’ well and the burning bush?
  • Where is Aaron’s tomb?

In the coldest months, when frost and snow can cover the mountain, we may climb in the morning instead for safety.
